A.I.M. Associates In Manufacturing, a QS-9000 compliant West Michigan Tool and Die Shop manufactures testing equipment for leather, vinyl and other materials. If a current machine does not meet your testing requirements, our engineers will custom design and manufacture test equipment to meet your specifications.
AIM Tool & Die also provides die design, die manufacturing, die testing, and short run production stamping on 30 to 300 ton presses with coil feed capability. AIM Tool & Die Cold Impact Tester Machine
Procedure: GM-9032P, M 0155
Scope:
This machine evaluates the force required to fracture leather, plastic and vinyl materials under specified conditions.Machine Description:
The Cold Impact leather, plastic, and vinyl tester vertically drops a calibrated weight a specified distance to test the sample. Samples are held mounted and conditioned in a sample holder. Extra sample holders are available.The Cold Impact leather, plastic, and vinyl tester is available in both General Motors and Nissan models. The GM Cold Impact Tester drops 250g 10 cm using a 5 mm radius head. The Nissan Cold Impact Tester drops 800g 15 cm using a 5 mm radius head.
Various heights and weights are available upon request.
Test Description:
3 test samples are normally used, taken from random areas of the hide, or as specified by the customer.Test Procedure:
Prepare the samples per the procedure.Mount the sample in the sample holder, with the retaining screws loose, and condition at the desired test conditions. Place the holder in a controlled thermostatic chamber at the specified temperature. After cooling, tighten the screws and remove the holder and immediately set the holder in the impact-testing machine so the center of the test sample is located right beneath the impact die. Rise the impact weight to the specified height (flush with the top of the guiding tube) then drop the weight. Take out the holder, remove the sample, and check for the presence of cracks on the coated surface layer.
Note: Urethane pads are required in the Nissan procedure. Contact requester for specifications and availability.
